It is now widely accepted by turf research establishments worldwide, that the key to all good turf management is the initiation of a first class regular programme of decompaction and aeration.
Imants believe that the best and least disruptive form of aeration is by continuous slitting. Aeration by slitting encourages and enables the movement of water and nutrients throughout the critical rootzone area. This results in vastly improved grass root / shoot density and rooting depth to produce a dense healthy grass sward. Surface and rootzone drainage efficiency is also greatly increased using the RotoKnife and common problems such as thatch are quickly broken down in situ and eliminated.
The Rotoknife is the perfect companion machine to the famous Shockwave Revenge decompactors, by creating inter-connecting channels within the surface and rootzone to enhance the work of the decompactor.

THE PROBLEM...
Soil compaction is now fully recognised by Agronomists and Turf Research Institutes worldwide as a major problem for all sports turf facilities. Compaction is THE prime cause of poor root development and the under utilisation of air, water and key nutrients. Regular decompaction and aeration is accepted by many leading authorities as 80% of essential turf maintenance, and the single most important and beneficial operation carried out by Course Managers/Superintendents and Groundsmen.
THE SOLUTION...
The Shockwave Revenge offers huge advantages over all other available designs - the soil is laterally displaced by scythe shaped cutting blades operating to a maximum depth of 400 mm (depending on model). When combined with the forward tractor speed, this creates a wave action - very like the Seismic waves of a real Earthquake - shattering the soil and breaking up soil compaction consistently across the full working width and depth of the achine. It is able to achieve this remarkable feat without surface disruption or damage to the soil structure. The result is vastly improved drainage and aeration, encouraging deep healthy root growth, maximum water up-take and utilisation of nutrients to maintain a dense, durable healthy, disease resistant natural sward without the high inputs and costs associated with many turf maintenance regimes.

NEW DESIGN...
In seeking to improve upon the excellent Mk II Shockwave, Imants have departed from the previous well established chain drive system, utilising instead a central all-gear-drive to the rotor shaft powered directly from the gearbox via the pto shaft.
Central-gear-drive guarantees perfect torque characteristics and optimum balance throughout the machine and results in a drive train at least 30% stronger than before. With no chains to adjust or replace we have absolutely minimised the likelihood of breakage or failure through metal fatigue or wear. Next on the agenda for re-design was the thorny subject of shear bolts which had previously been fitted to every blade and the pto. Imants found that local authority health and safety officers in particular, disliked the idea of their personnel replacing broken shear bolts in the close proximity of hot and razor sharp blades when working unsupervised on site. In addition, there is the question of down time to consider when changing several broken shear bolts, which are often rusted and seized-up. To resolve this problem the Imants engineers have opted for the fitting of a torque limiter (similar to a slip clutch) on the pto set at normal shear bolt breaking pressure. When encountering an underground obstruction such as a large rock or brick this device immediately disengages the pto, thus preventing the blades from rotating until the offending obstacle has been passed.
This simple expedient now means that the Revenge is fully protected against accidental damage and breakage without the use of a single shear bolt!

NEW RELIABILITY...
Imants designers were given a brief of “virtually zero maintenance” and were determined to make the Revenge models as reliable and maintenance free as possible for end users. To this end all new models use sealed-forlife ultra heavy-duty bearings throughout. This means that the only maintenance now required is regular routine checking of the gearbox oil level, plus an annual gearbox oil change, together with daily common sense checks for bolt tightness and accidental damage when in use.
