TurfProtecta Grass Mesh for Turf and Lawn Reinforcement
Turfprotecta® turf and lawn reinforcement mesh is an extruded plastic mesh for the protection and reinforcement of grass and turf. The turf reinforcement mesh stabilises the grass and enables the grass to intertwine with the plastic mesh filaments creating a strong stable reinforced grassed surface. The grass protection mesh is ideal for pedestrian and light vehicle use, overflow car parks, and airport taxi-ways.
When installing turf reinforcement mesh, it is essential that the plastic reinforcing grass mesh should be laid down to give enough time for the grass roots to intertwine with the plastic turf protection mesh filaments (E.g. early spring). This usually takes approximately one growing season. With the help of this turf protector the protected area will soon resume its natural appearance with the turf reinforcement mesh disappearing below the surface of the grass. This then provides a stable surface that will withstand the weight of vehicles and heavy pedestrian use. The grass and lawn reinforcement mesh is available in black & green in both standard and heavy duty grade. TurfProtecta black & green mesh is manufactured from 100% recycled High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).

Grassform Plant Hire strongly advice that newly installed TurfProtecta® slip resistant grass surfaces should be left unused until the grass has grown through the plastic net apertures and a strong interlock has been achieved – normally after a few weeks during the growing season rising to a few months out of the growing season. This is to allow the grass to fully grow through the grass and lawn reinforcement net and allow the grass sward to create the strong interlock with the mesh. If the surface is used immediately grass growth may take a longer period of time and may limit the effectiveness of the product initially.
TurfProtecta Grass Mesh and SUDS
TurfProtecta® can be used in Source Control applications as part of Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) and is the perfect alternative to impermeable paved surfaces where natural grassed traffic routes and driveways are preferred and where planning restrictions are applied or cost savings are being considered.
TurfProtecta® slip resistant grass reinforcement mesh is supplied on 2m x 30m rolls in two thicknesses (Standard 550g/m2 & Premium 660g/m2) as determined by the application and manufactured from partly recycled UV Stabilised polyethylene (Approx 20% recycled polymer)
Please note that with all plastic products, the product can become slippery on damp or wet conditions if used before any grass has grown.
